How to Save Money : Shop and Save

Shop without dropping a bundle

Pay full price for clothes? Never! Let this be your anthem. Buy at the end of season for next year. Check out consignment shops for low prices on designer labels. If you work, look for a few well-made pieces that will stay in fashion and last. Limit the number of items in your closet that need to be dry-cleaned. And don't buy clothes that need to be ironed. For children, buy used clothes at garage sales and re-sale shops and borrow outfits for newborns. Because it's true - they do grow up so quickly.

It all comes out in the wash

Take good care of the clothes you own. This means only buying washable clothing and laundering carefully. Read and follow the cleaning labels. Organize laundry so a minimum number of loads are run. Use detergent that works well in cool or warm water. Hang clothes on a clothesline instead of using a dryer. If you have children, have them change into old clothes for outside play.
